ConcernedApe check-in: Haunted Chocolatier 'taking a long time', still no 1.7 date

In a June 2026 update reported by Polygon, Eric Barone admitted Haunted Chocolatier is taking longer than hoped and confirmed the Stardew Valley 1.7 update still has no release date. Work on both projects continues in parallel.

10-year anniversary: 50 million copies sold, 1.7 marriage candidates revealed

For Stardew Valley's 10th anniversary, ConcernedApe published a retrospective with commentary over early builds and confirmed the game has sold 50 million copies. The anniversary video revealed the two new marriage candidates coming in update 1.7 - Clint and Sandy - while reiterating that 1.7 is still in the works with no release date.

Barone pushed back on rumors that he abandoned Haunted Chocolatier out of burnout to work on Stardew Valley, saying he is simply working as always. The post confirmed steady progress on both Haunted Chocolatier and the 1.7 update.

Stardew Valley 1.7 officially announced

ConcernedApe confirmed another major free content update - 1.7 - is in development under a deliberate 'no release date, no estimate' approach. A follow-up blog post explained he is taking a creative-director role with the small Stardew team so Haunted Chocolatier stays on track. Later details confirmed a brand-new farm type and expanded character and social content for 1.7.

Stardew Valley 1.6 - The Big Update

The biggest content update since 1.5 launched on PC on March 19, 2024, headlined by the Mastery system, the Meadowlands farm type and three new festivals. It also added a Bookseller, prize tickets, mystery boxes, four new crops and dozens of new machines and items, plus 8-player multiplayer on PC and a redrawn real-time world map. Consoles and mobile followed on November 4, 2024 with version 1.6.9.

New Festival: Desert Festival (Spring 15-17)

A three-day festival in the Calico Desert introduced with 1.6, running 10am to 2am each day once the bus is repaired. Everything runs on Calico Eggs earned from races, Skull Cavern quests, fishing challenges and a daily quiz, then spent at rotating villager shops. Unlike classic festivals, time keeps passing and valley shops stay open.

New Festival: Trout Derby (Summer 20-21)

A two-day mini fishing festival held at the Cindersap Forest river below Marnie's Ranch, from 6:10am to 2am. Every Rainbow Trout you catch has a chance to yield a Golden Tag, the festival currency exchanged for prizes at the derby booth. Time passes normally and all shops stay open during the event.

New Festival: SquidFest (Winter 12-13)

A two-day winter fishing festival on the Beach, from 6:10am to 2am, all about catching squid. Daily catch milestones award copper, iron, gold and iridium tier prizes, with a different reward set each day; the counter resets on Winter 13. Shops remain open and time passes during the festival.

Stardew Valley 1.6.15.1 - Console Parity Patch

ConcernedApe shipped 1.6.15.1 to Xbox and PlayStation on February 12, 2025, syncing console content with the latest PC build and fixing a Switch bug that treated every gift as a loved gift. The Nintendo Switch received the same patch on February 26, 2025. This remains the newest console version as of August 2026.

The final PC patch of 2024 made legendary fish ponds far more productive and cleaned up a long list of crashes and multiplayer problems. Achievements now unlock retroactively in more cases, and Hungarian, Japanese and Russian translations were improved. 1.6.15 is still the latest PC version as of August 2026.

This patch added extra spouse reactions when you interact with them without dialogue and polished a series of gameplay bugs. Animal products no longer always harvest at base quality, and fish are no longer lost when you pass out holding one. Several multiplayer crashes involving farmhands were resolved.

The biggest post-launch 1.6 patch also served as the version that brought the update to consoles and mobile on November 4, 2024. It added legendary fish ponds, a Secret Woods friend who recovers unrepeatable lost items, and sleeping in any furniture-friendly building. The audio engine migrated from FAudio to OpenAL alongside a sweeping localization overhaul.

Bee houses learned to work with potted flowers and the mastery XP bonus was corrected to farming only. After community feedback the Chinese text and font were reverted to 1.6.3 with new optional smooth-font and font-size settings, and Russian players received fully translated movie and Desert Festival sprites.

Four new fairy styles and a special cutscene for maxing out the new neighbors' family rounded out the content, while Chinese fonts and many translations were overhauled. A hotfix followed on April 19.
